Wise County Water Supply District (WCWSD) 2025 Bond Election

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The proposed bond will fund the construction of a new pump station with a capacity of 6.6 million gallons per day and the replacement of 5.15 miles of the existing 12-inch ductile iron water line with new 24-inch water line. These upgrades replace infrastructure originally constructed in the 1960s.

Line graph showing Decatur City population projections from 2013 to 2035, indicating a steady increase. The 2014-2024 growth is 1.51%, while 2025-2034 growth is 8.10%.

Key Benefits

  • Increased Capacity: The new pump station will more than double the current capacity.

  • Improved Reliability: Replacing the aging 12-inch water line with a 24-inch line is anticipated to reduce the frequency of breaks and maintenance issues.

  • Future-Proofing: These improvements will support the long-term growth and sustainability of Decatur.

  • Construction Start: October 2026 – December 2028
